Shingeki no Kyojin 47 (Attack on Titan) was brilliant, although the chapter was a little confusing a few times, I can truly say that it’s definitely getting better and better. Although, now that we know so much, especially that Reiner is the Armored Titan and Bertholdt is the Colossal Titan as well as there being another even more strong opponent to humanity than the Armored and Colossal Titans, I still believe that there are still too many plot holes.
Shingeki no Kyojin 47 begins with Eren noticing that after Christa was involved in their conversation, she quickly stopped talking about what this other force was. She wouldn’t answer at all, I believe that this could either be the Monkey Titan or something else outside the walls.
Eren also knows that his regeneration will take a bit more time, while Ymir’s is already done. Therefore his resistance towards Reiner and Bertholdt will be nothing. He thinks he has to wait till sunset when his hands might be back, however Reiner and Bertholdt both notice a flare to which they act quickly. They need to get going as soon as possible. They try to get away however Eren struggles with their orders as he fights back.
One thing that I’m still confused about this chapter was Ymir and her relationship with Christa. We now know that Christa is important because she knows the reason to why there are large number of grand Titan’s building the wall, but still why does she have such a large attachment. Another brief explanation here is told that Ymir finds Christa to be something more than she is, and that she knows how wonderful and kind she is from her past experiences with her. She also heard from the priests about her family so that could be another connection there.
I believe that this chapter, for all it is, there were many random explanation to things that we still don’t know or to the things that we haven’t even touched before in the chapter. The whole Ymir and Christa thing just flew over my head. Furthermore apparently Reiner and Bertholdt were given a mission from their village that they need to find something, if Eren isn’t their objective, it could be Christa.
The whole thing about Reiner and Bertholdt’s village, and how they’re warriors towards that village is something to consider since Annie is from the same village as both of them, it seems a little fishy how just that village has three titans of their own. It could be some kind of experiment or something. Furthermore the fact that Ymir was trapped in her Titan’s body for 60 odd years, and that she ate Reiner and Bertholdt’s friend could mean that she could be from the same town.
We see that after Ymir struggles a little, she quickly gets both Reiner and Bertholdt to agree to her way of doing things. From then on, it seems like Bertholdt and Reiner’s hold and Ymir had been loosened, it’s as though she knew what she was doing, the balance of power had quickly shifted from them to her. She knew she had to get Christa back, so she waited until the humans arrived whilst in her Titan form and once Christa appeared, she opened her mouth and quickly ran off while the others had just realised that they’d been fooled. They chase after them until Reiner transforms into the Armored Titan, from then on he begins his mission to run as quickly as he can while he has Bertholdt, Eren, Ymir and Christa in her mouth on his back.
While they keep on running, Armin, Mikasa, Connie and many others follow. Hannes mentions that he’s willing to bring back Eren to the humans even if it costs him his life, this could be a hint to the end of his life during the next few chapters. Well, that was certainly a good chapter, I may be missing something, but I still don’t see why Reiner and Bertholdt need Christa. It seems like Ymir has a massive obsession with her, however Reiner only finds out cute. So why is she so important. I know that she knows the secret to the walls having Titan’s in them, but why do Ymir and Reiner need her? I’m still a little confused, I think I may have missed something here. Otherwise I think this might need to be shown in Shingeki no Kyojin 48. What do you think of my thoughts, I’m sure there a lot more I could have talked about, but I’d like to hear what you think.
